Cinéma En Plein Air 2017
First screening at La Villette is on the 20th July
As the temperature rises and the nights grow longer, the summer season is truly here and with this comes an abundance of outdoor cinema events in Paris. What could be better than seeing your favourite film on the big screen whilst enjoying a beautiful summer sunset? There are plenty of different options and screenings in various locations, make sure to check out the programme at La Villette! Remember to take some popcorn (and maybe some sun-cream too!)

Bastille Day Celebration
Friday 14th July
This national holiday is a celebration of the storming of the Bastille of 1789. This epic event led to the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, a bill of rights that has prevailed ever since. Every year since 1880 Bastille Day is marked with festivities and most recently an epic firework display that can be seen from all over Paris. If you are in the capital, make sure to benefit from the day off. There will be a military parade on the Avenue des Champs-Elysées, fireworks will be set off from the Eiffel Tower and balls will be taking place at various fire stations in Paris.

Paris Plages 2017
Opening officially on the 8th July (until 3rd September)
Did you think you would have to take a plane to go to the beach this summer? Well think again! You can get to this beach on the metro! Steven Pippin Exhibition At The Pompidou
From Wednesday to Monday from 11am to 9pm (running from the 14th June to the 11th September 2017)
Steven Pippin is a contemporary British artist noted for his photographs of objects transformed in dark rooms that play with the notions of dimension and movement. Known for his project entitled Laudromat Locomotion, Pippin’s exhibition at the Pompidou entitled ‘Aberration Optique’ will dazzle you as he transforms everyday objects from the ordinary to extraordinary.

Festival Rhizomes 2017
From Saturday 1st July 2017 to Sunday 16th July
On Saturday and Sunday from 3 to 8pm, the 18th arrondissement of Paris will be partying! Head down and enjoy a wide range of music. With concerts from Pedro Soler & Gaspar Claus, Eténèsh Wassié and Jupiter & Okwess this is your chance to hear Afro-pop, Malian, Cameroonian and even Flamenco sounds all in the same weekend!
