This month, communities, customs and cultures from all over the world come together in Paris in a collection of festivals, markets, parades and exhibitions.
Carnaval De Paris:
Sunday 11th February, across the whole of Paris
Starting at Place Gambetta and finishing at Place de la République, this year le Carnaval de Paris, the city’s costumed parade, takes the theme of ‘Les Contes de Perrault et d’ailleurs’. So expect to see fairytale characters galore at this colourful and creative event.

La Caricature Raconte L’histoire De La France

Moving from Protestant engravings to Charlie Hebdo cartoons, this exhibition traces the history of France through the art of the caricature. Although the drawings always target different subjects, they all share the same irreverent opposition towards the structures of power and humorous take on the important events of the day.

Chinese New Year
Friday 16th February, across the whole of Paris
The beginning of the year of the earth dog will be celebrated by Paris’ Chinese community with parades in various different locations throughout Paris and its environs, including Aubervilliers, the 13th arrondissement and Noisy-le-Grand.

Le Che à Paris

In this free exhibition, a collection of drawings, paintings and photographs explore the life and interests of Che Guevara, capturing not only his political fervour but also his sporting and artistic passions, giving a rounded and in depth view of the man behind the reputation.

L’afro Market
Saturday 10th February from 2:30pm-2am,
Communion, 36 Quai d‘Austerlitz, 75013, Paris
On 10th February, different designers and creators of Paris’ African communities will come together with a selection of stands selling traditional clothes, materials and snacks. Once the sun sets, the market will be transformed into a soirée dedicated to celebrating the beauty and wealth of the participating cultures. This event is free until 10pm, so make sure to get there early to make the most of what is on offer!
