FÊTE DES LUMIÈRES, LYON

Every December, the festival attracts thousands of tourists who come to admire the public light installations. There will be dozens of light shows in squares, churches, and museums. Lights and Lyon, it doesn’t really get more festive than that.

SALON DU CHEVAL
4-8 December 2019, Paris
One of the biggest equestrian events in the world, the Salon du Cheval, takes place in the outskirts of Paris. If you like horses or have kids, this is the place to be.

ICE SKATING RINKS
Throughout December 2019

In most major French cities, you will find an ice rink where you can rent some skates and drink an unacceptable amount of mulled wine to make it seem like the 4-year-olds only overtake you because you’re drunk. If skating is not your thing, you could watch people fail to impress on skates from the sidelines with a nice warm hot chocolate. In Paris, some of the best rinks are at the Hotel de Ville, the Eiffel Tower or the Galerie Lafayette.

Christmas Markets
Throughout December 2019

The French love a good Christmas market, and luckily enough the French also have a cuisine that loves cheese so head to a market and take the famous combination of cheese and wine to a whole new (French) level whilst munching on a raclette and sipping on a hot cup of vin chaud. In Paris, the markets on the Champs-Elysées or at Trocadéro are a must. If you’re dissatisfied with your local Christmas market offerings, why not head for a trip to Strasbourg for some festive fun? Wherever you are, we’re sure you’ll be able to get a piece of the lovely holiday atmosphere!
