Aria’s Experience As A Babylangues Instructor in Paris: My Babylangues Review

My Babylangues Review
As I reflect on my two years in Paris, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the experiences, memories, and connections I have made. My time here was not just a chapter in my life but a transformative period that shaped me in ways I could have never imagined.

My Babylangues Review in Paris

It all began when I decided to take a leap of faith and explore the world beyond my comfort zone. I had just finished my first year at university in Sydney but felt, to be honest, uninspired. I have really strong career ambitions, but I wanted to travel before I begin higher education and set myself on track. I considered many European cities but Paris, after some googling and lots of scrolling on social media, seemed like the perfect destination. Little did I know that this decision would lead me to one of the most rewarding experiences of my life – working as an instructor for a French family through Babylangues.

My Babylangues Review

Joining Babylangues opened the door to a world of cultural exchange and connection. As an English-speaking instructor, my role extended beyond childcare; I became a mentor, friend, and older sister figure to the children I cared for. Through playful games, creative activities, and engaging conversations, I not only helped them improve their English skills but also fostered meaningful relationships built on trust and mutual respect. Also, the girls I was working with grew up so much in the two years I spent with them. When I started, they were four, and now they’re about to turn 7! It’s crazy to think they’ve changed so much, and I was lucky enough to be a big part of their childhood. My favourite part is seeing them come into themselves, whether that’s a passion for art or for music, because the two girls were so different but creative in their own ways.

Beyond the professional aspect, my time in Paris was also a journey of personal growth and self-discovery. Living in a foreign country challenged me to step outside of my comfort zone, adapt to new surroundings, and embrace unfamiliar customs and traditions. I had to get used to so many little things, like saying bonjour everytime you enter a store. It was a journey filled with moments of triumph but also many moments of uncertainty, but through it all, I emerged stronger, more resilient, and more open-minded than ever before.

A Great Cultural Experience!

One of the highlights of my experience was being welcomed into the family I worked for as more than just an employee but as a valued member. From sharing meals together to celebrating holidays and milestones, I was embraced with warmth and kindness, making me feel like I had found a second home in the heart of Paris. Both of my birthdays in Paris have been made extra special by the family I worked with; the girls even made me a cake and learned how to sing Happy Birthday in English for me!

Working with Babylangues also provided me with a supportive community of fellow nannies from around the world, and even a couple from Australia. We shared our experiences, exchanged tips and advice, and formed lasting friendships; I know I’ll miss them so much when I go home but I can’t wait to visit them all over the world! Together, we navigated the challenges of living abroad and celebrated the joys of discovery, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

An Unforgettable Human Experience

As I say goodbye to Paris and the family I had grown to love, I am filled with a profound sense of gratitude for the experiences that have shaped me and the connections that have enriched my life. My time as an instructor taught me the importance of empathy, patience, and understanding, virtues that transcend language and cultural barriers. I had no expectations, I didn’t know what I’d work in or for how long, where I’d live, and how I’d get on… but it went better than I could’ve imagined. I’m now returning to Sydney to pursue teaching as a qualification, after realising how much I enjoy working with children.

My two years in Paris as an instructor with Babylangues have been nothing short of transformative, although they have flown by – I don’t know where the time has gone. It was a journey filled with moments of joy, laughter, and growth – a journey that has left an indelible mark on my heart. As I embark on the next chapter of my life, I carry with me the memories, lessons, and connections made on this side of the world, forever grateful for the opportunity to have lived in one of the most beautiful cities in the world. I’m sure I’ll be back, but who knows when? As soon as possible, I hope!
