Saint-Germain en Laye
Visite Guideé: Saint-Germain en Laye
Saturday 22nd April
Experience the castle of Saint-Germain-en-Laye and its beautiful park. This guided tour takes you just 20 minutes out of Paris to a most idyllic setting.
On this visit you will get to explore all that the national domain of Saint-Germain-en-Laye has to offer. Start off wandering through the protected parks and the forest that surrounds them. The style of these parks is particularly impressive and they remain open to the public free of charge all year round. You will then get the chance to explore the ‘Musée d’archéologie nationale’ (Museum of Archaeology) which is in fact within the castle itself. This museum therefore holds a particular charm where a rich collection of French archaeological artifacts dating all the way back from prehistory to the Middle Ages, are presented amongst the history of the castle walls. You cannot help but feel the majestic power of these protected masterpieces. You can then enjoy the castle in its own right. Home to kings from King Saint Louis to Louis XIV, the architecture of this castle takes you right back in time, immersing you in its stories from the past.
