‘Babylangues fait son cinéma’ : Babylangues hosts an evening of French cinema
The Babylangues Cinema Evening returns this month with a modern French film. This is a wonderful opportunity for our instructors and their friends to embrace French culture of which cinema plays a big part!

Directed by Olivier Nakache & Éric Toledano, the award-winning 2011 comedy drama Intouchables (The Untouchables in English), tells the story of an unlikely friendship that overcomes all social barriers.
Inspired by true events, Omar Sy has stunned audiences in his debut leading role alongside the excellent François Cluzet as the awkward hired “help at home” to a millionaire quadriplegic.
Against a starkly contrasting backdrop of chic Paris and its troubled banlieues, the film, beautifully soundtracked by Ludovico Einaudi, reflects the brutal inequalities of modern-day Paris as the friendship between Philippe and Driss develops. The touching yet hilarious performance manages, however, to shun any Hollywood race/class clichés, with the subtly coarse humour that runs throughout the film being described as “almost British”.
A truly heart-warming masterpiece!
Join us to see the film in French, with English subtitles!
